Council areas are changing

by admin on 22 October, 2010

Boundary changes on the Borough Council will mean that Kingsley ward will look very different next year. Kingsley currently has 2 councillors, but in future there will be three wards covering most of the present Kingsley, electing one councillor each. Focus newsletters from now on will reflect these new boundaries.

The new Trinity ward will include the area from the Racecourse, around the University, both sides of Kingsley Rd and taking in the Queens Park Estate (currently in Kingsthorpe ward) up to the Cock Hotel Junction. Andrew Simpson will be leading the Focus team in this area.

The new Phippsville ward will include the whole area between Kettering Rd, Abington Grove, Abington Avenue and Beech Avenue (including the area between Beech Avenue  and Park Avenue North- currently in Eastfield). Marianne Taylor will be leading the Focus team in this area.

Poets corner and the Kingsley Council estate, plus Fairway and Masefield Wasy etc will remain in Kingsley ward, to be joined by the Links view Estate (Hazeldene Rd and Greenview Drive- currently in Parklands ward). New Focus team member Mike Quinn will lead the Focus team in this area.

Arthur St, the flats in Balfour Rd and Monarch Rd will become part of the new Semilong ward, where Sarah Uldall leads the Focus Team.

Holly Rd goes into Abington ward, where Brian Hoare and Irene Markham are the sitting councillors.

Richard Church will continue to be the County Councillor for Kingsley on the old boundaries.
