Tesco’s in Kingsley Park Terrace

by admin on 21 July, 2009

Tesco’s are planning to open a new Express store at 98-102 Kingsley Park Terrace (between Shelley & Moore St.). They have submitted a series of planning applications, including for a new shop sign (N/2009/0559), new shop front (N/2009/0560), service yard canopy, chiller unit and refrigeration units (N/2009/0558) and a cash machine (N/2009/0557).

These planning applications can all be viewed on Northampton Borough Council’s website. Use the reference numbers above on the planning search facility, send your comments to the council and let us know your views.

after your newsletter about new store – Tesco store for kingsley should really out of order! because kettering road is really good enough community like co-op, oliver adams and morrison supermarket. one things that concern that road safety and parking. Esso petrol have already got tesco express, weston favell have own tesco store! Stop more build tesco express! Council and tesco should ask residents in kingsley and abington community to views first before build but I am shocked that no one know about tesco build straightly.

  2. Chris,
Tesco do not need permission from the Council to open in Kingsley Park Terrace, as they are taking over an existing shop unit. This applies to other express stores that have opened around the town, often in empty properties. The only aspects they need permission for are new signs at the front, a cashpoint machine and delivery arrangements.

It will mean that fewer people will need to drive to shop at Tesco, but I share your concern at the effect it may have on some other local shops.
